Back Pain

What is it?

Back pain (or lumbago) is a frequent complaint in many adults, especially older adults.  9 out of 10 people will experience back pain in their life at some time. An estimated 60-80% of people in the UK are affected, with people aged 45-59 years being most vulnerable.

The spine is a complex network of nerves, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.  These can all produce pain.

Symptoms

Back pain may be constant or intermittent, static, or radiate out to other areas such as the arms or legs. The pain itself may be a dull ache, a sharp pain, or a burning sensation.

Most back pain is the result of inflammation.  However, although it is rare, back pain can be a sign of a more serious problem, e.g. a bowel or bladder infection, a kidney infection, or a leg problem.

Causes

Pulled muscles are the most common causes of low back pain.  Slipped discs, arthritis, lumber muscle strain, osteoporosis and degenerative disc disease are others.

We have found that for skeletal problems such as a slipped disk, combining BioTech Healing's health screening along with chiropractic treatment increases the speed of recovery for the patient.

Obesity increases back pain due to the extra load carrying and strain on the spine.

Other simple triggers include poor posture, lack of exercise, prolonged standing or bending, or prolonged sitting.

How can BioTech Healing help?

However, a great deal of lower back pain is a result of inflammation brought on by toxicity, deficiency of essential minerals needed for bone and joint health, or both.

Most of us suffer from some form of dehydration, and this, combined with a diet high in acid-forming toxins complicates lower back pain.  Such undischarged toxins play a major role in the development of pain, stiffness and inflammation.

In fact, it is estimated that up to 80% of lower back pain cases could be attributable to the accumulation of toxins.
